Upcoming EventsKBE Exceptional Teacher Award
For most of us, at least one teacher stands out in our memory, someone who encouraged and inspired us to do our very best.
This June, the Keene Board of Education will award ten 2013 Exceptional Educator Awards. The board will give $500 to each teacher selected. These awards are a way for our community to thank those teachers for their exceptional work on behalf of our students. Nominations will be accepted from any Keene School District community member including: students (current and former), parents, employees, administrators, and board members. Nomination letters are due by May 31, 2013.

We have been working hard all summer to prepare for a much-anticipated opening of school. New supplies and materials have been ordered and delivered. Upon your arrival school you will find fresh paint, some new carpeting, sparkling clean classrooms and very excited and energetic teachers who can’t wait to meet their new students. The first day of school for students in grades 1-5 is Tuesday, September 4, 2012. The first full day for Preschool students is Wednesday, September 5th and the first full day for Kindergarten students will be Monday, September 10th. Our school hours are the same as last year. For those who choose, breakfast will be served the first day, and each day thereafter beginning at 8:05. The bell for the start of school will ring at 8:20. Each morning students in grades K-2 will gather at the small (north) playground. Students in grades 3-5 will gather at the large (south) playground. We will have many extra adults outside the first few days of school to help students find their way. The first day of school offers a great opportunity to take a picture as your child waves good-bye when they enter the building. Dismissal will be at 3:00 daily. Screening of this year’s Kindergarten students will be done by appointment on September 4th and 5th. Orientation for Kindergarten students and families will be held on Friday,September 6th at 9:00 am.
