Greetings,
Welcome to the Wheelock School website. It is with great excitement and anticipation that I share some of what you would discover when visiting Wheelock School.
Wheelock’s Preschool is a busy place. Our students are ages 3, 4, and 5, and placed in three different half-day classrooms. Our students come from all over Keene. We are starting off the year with seventy-five students in Preschool, but we expect those numbers to increase during the year.

Wheelock is one of Keene’s five elementary schools. All five schools share the same curricula and approaches. Our staff uses common language to guide social and behavioral interactions, and this year we are implementing the Everyday Mathematics program in all grades k-5. We have after-school activities run by teachers, an active PTA, committed volunteers, and a very, very busy school.
Our teachers and students take pride in the ’green’ culture of our school. We recycle paper, glass, cans, cardboard and batteries. At lunch our students sort their food waste and have an active compost heap, which fertilizes our postage stamp sized school garden. You might find green beans, carrots, garlic or spinach as part of our salad selection at lunch. Students also assist in lunch table cleaning and storing. We believe strongly that we all need to contribute to our school community.
